< 冬の歌とてよめる >
雪ふれば 冬こもりせる 草も木も 春に知られぬ 花ぞ咲きける
紀 貫之
< Composed as a poem of winter. >
As it is snowing,
Restraining from activities are,
Trees and grasses sleeping,
Yet, flourishing in winter are,
Snow flowers in spring nowhere.

< 冬の歌として詠んだ歌 >
雪が降り、草も木も冬ごもりして(活動をひかえて)いるが、春には見ることのできない(雪の)花が咲いているのだ。
(Appreciation)
As it is snowing, trees and grasses are restraining from activities in winter. Yet, snow flowers unseen in spring are flourishing.
