糸による 物ならなくに 別れ路(ﾁﾞ)の 心ぼそくも おもほゆるかな

Though not yarn,
Twisting into string,
How narrow and thin,
The path after the parting,
On the way I am going.

< 東国へ行った時に、道にて詠んだ歌 >
糸を縒(ﾖ)るための物(より細い糸)というわけではないのだが、この別れ路は心細くとも思われるのだ。
(Appreciation)
Though not yarn before twisting into string, how narrow and thin the path can be after the parting on the way I am going to the East, I ponder, feeling helpless.
