＜ 河原左大臣のみまかりてのち、かの家にまかりてありけるに、塩竈(ｼﾎｶﾞﾏ)という所のさまをつくりけるを見てよめる ＞
君まさで 煙絶えにし 塩竈の うらさびしくも 見えわたるかな

< After the passing of Senior Minister Kawahara, I visited his residence and found the garden built imitating the scenery of Shiogama inlet. Then I composed; >
After you passed away,
The garden, Shiogama inlet-imitated,
Looks solitary and lonely,
As the smoke of baking salt ceased,
All around surveyed.

< 河原左大臣が亡くなられた後、その邸宅に行った時に、塩釜の浦を真似て作った庭をみて詠んだ歌 >
君(左大臣)が亡くなられた後、塩焼く煙も途絶えてしまった塩釜の浦は、うら寂しき見渡されるのだ。
(Appreciation)
After you passed away, the garden in imitation of the inlet of Shiogama looks solitary all around as the smoke of baking salt ceased.
