Enjoying Kokin Waka Shu in English-881 Ki no Tsurayuki-91
< Composed looking at the moon reflected on the surface of the pond. >
There is only one moon,
I thought so, undoubtedly,
None but one.
But it rises from the bottom of the water, unexpectely,
Other than from the edge of the mountain, ordinary.
Ki no Tsurayuki
(Appreciation)
There is only one moon. There are not two, I thought so far.
I rises not only from the edge of the mountain but also from the bottom of the water, the moonlight mirroring on the surface.
