< 法皇西川におはしましたりける日、「鶴、洲に立てり」ということを題にてよませ給ひけ >
葦鶴(ｱｼﾀｽﾞ)の 立てる川辺を 吹く風に 寄せてかへらぬ 波かとぞ見ゆる

At the sandbank in a river,
A lot of cranes are standing,
Which looks as though, for a day tripper,
The waves coming and going,
With the wind blowing.

< 法皇が西川に行幸なさった日に、「鶴が洲に立っている」ということを題にしてお詠ませになった歌 >
鶴がたくさんいる川辺は、吹く風に波が打ち寄せて、そのまま帰らない(引いていかない)波のように見える。
(Appreciation)
At the sandbank in a river, a lot of cranes are standing, which looks as though in the eyes of a day tripper, waves are coming and going, with the wind blowing.
