< 越(ｺｼ)なりける人に遣はしける >
思ひやる 越の白山 しらねども 一夜も夢に 越えぬ夜(ﾖ)ぞなき

< Sent to a person who was in Koshi. >
I have not spent a night ever,
Without having a dream to cross over,
Mt. Shiroyama of Koshi, namely to go over; –
The mountain I always aspire to pass over,
But have not actually seen and visited ever.

< 越の国にいた人に贈った歌 >
想像するだけで、越の国の白山は知らないのだが、一夜も夢で越えない夜はないのだ。
(Appreciation)
I have not spent a night ever, without having a dream to cross over Mt. Shiroyama of Koshi, namely to go over. I always aspire to pass over the mountain, although I have never actually seen and visited it before.
