髪置祝*
ことしより つむりにけし**を 置きそめて 千代萬代の 数とり***にせん
四方赤良（大田南畝）
From this year, letting a keshi on the head growing,
The child will celebrate Kamioki at the age of three as a token of thousands of years living.
* 髪置 男女とも三歳の11月15日から頭髪をのばし始めた、今の七五三の祝
Kamioki – a ceremony of allowing the hair of a child to grow at the age of three, a custom of Japan now practiced as Shichigosan (7-5-3).
* 芥子(けし) 髪置祝にはやした髪
keshi – hair partly grown on the head of a child
*** 数とり – 長生きする途中の記念 memory of long living on the way.

髪置を祝っためでたい歌 Simply happy kyoka celebrating the Kamioki.
(注) 狂歌(きょうか)とは、風刺、皮肉、しゃれ、 滑稽を盛り込んだ5-7-5-7-7形式の短歌。江戸時代後期(18世紀後半)に隆盛し、天明狂歌として黄金期を迎える。大田南畝(蜀山人 ｼｮｸｻﾝｼﾞﾝ; 1749-1823)は、その代表的文人、狂歌師。
Note: Kyoka is satirical, ironical or comical short Japanese poem, derived from Tanka, composed of 31 syllables, with a pattern of 5-7-5-7-7 sounds. It flourished and marked a golden age in the late Edo period in the late 18th century as Tenmei Kyoka. Ota Nampo, Shokusanjin (1749-1823), is one of the leading Kyoka poets.
