< 秋立つ日、うへの男ども、賀茂の河原に川逍遥(ｼｮｳﾖｳ)しけるともにまかりてよめる >
川風の すずしくもあるか うちよする 波とともにや 秋は立つらむ

How cool is the wind risen,
Blowing through the river.
The autumn may have begun,
Along with the waves there,
Beating the banks of the river.

< 立秋の日に、殿上人たちが、賀茂川原に散策した時に、お供して詠んだ歌 >
川をわたる風のなんと涼しいことか。打ち寄せる波とともに、秋が立つ(はじまる)のだろうか。
* 「波」と「秋」が「立つ」に掛かっている。

How cool is the wind, blowing through the river. The autumn may have begun, along with the waves, beating the banks of the river.
