< 秋のはつる心を龍田川に思ひやりてよめる >
年ごとに もみぢ葉ながす 龍田川 水門(ﾐﾅﾄ)や秋の とまりなるらむ

Year by year invariably,
Tatsuta River,
Carries red leaves on its water flow, tirelessly,
To the mouth of the river,
The final destination of autumn, ever.

< 秋が終わるという趣旨を、龍田川に思いを馳せて(重ねて)詠んだ歌 >
毎年のことだが、紅葉を流れにのせて運んでいる龍田川の河口は、秋がたどり着く港なのだろう。

Year by year invariably, Tatsuta River carries red leaves on its water flow, tirelessly, to the mouth of the river, the final destination of autumn.
