< 雪のうちの梅の花をよめる >
梅の香の 降(ﾌ)り置(ｵ)ける雪に まがひせば 誰かことごと わきて折らまし
紀 貫之
< Composed a poem about plum blossoms in snow. >
If plum blossoms, sweet-smelling,
Are mingled with, well or better,
The falling snow, accumulating,
Then who on earth would rather,
Break them off one from the other?

< 雪の中の梅の花を詠んだ歌 >
梅の花の匂いが、そこに積もっている雪に紛れているなら、誰が区別して折りとるだろうか。
(Appreciation)
If sweet-smelling plum blossoms are mingled well or better with accumulating falling snow, then who on earth would rather break them off one from the other?
