花の香(ｶ)を 風のたよりに たぐへてぞ 鶯(ｳｸﾞｲｽ)さそふ しるべにはやる

Spring breeze gentle,
Is a letter to nightingales still sleeping,
With frangrance of flowers subtle,
Of the season now coming,
Alluring them to start warbling.

春風の便り(手紙)に、漂う花の香を添えて、まだ鶯(ｳｸﾞｲｽ)を誘いだす知らせとして送ろうか
Spring breeze is a letter with fragrance of flowers to nightingales still sleeping,
Of coming of the season, alluring them to start warbling.
