明け方、あたりがほのぼのと明るくなるころ、宇治川の川面に立ち込めていた霧が絶え絶えになって、その絶え間のあちらこちらから現れてきた川の瀬(せ)の網代木(宇治川の網を留める杭の木)
At foggy dawn, the vicinity
Becoming slowly but surely appearing,
In the shallows around Uji River, misty,
With the mists intermittently disconnected then enveloping,
Ajirogi, the piles, are here and there emerging.
